Moxibustion Therapy

What You Need To Know
What is moxibustion therapy
Moxibustion involves burning ground mugwort to warm certain points along your body. Moxibustion is commonly used alongside acupuncture in traditional Chinese medicine. Performing moxibustion with acupuncture can increase its effectiveness.
How does moxibustion work
Moxibustion can travel through the 12 meridians, which carry energy throughout the body. It is able to regulate qi and blood, dispel cold, warm yang and prevent diseases to maintain overall well-being.
What moxibustion can deal with
Moxibustion is usually good for cases where the disease is brought on by cold pathogens or a certain qi/yang deficiency. This includes: - Joint pain. - Indigestion. - Organ prolapse. - Gastrointestinal issues. - Menstrual cramps. - Infertility. - Breech pregnancy.
Possible risks of moxibustion
Direct moxibustion can cause burns, but we only provide indirect moxibustion.Be sure to tell your acupuncturist in advance if you’re pregnant. Ask your acupuncturist not to use moxibustion if you have: - A mugwort allergy.- Smoke sensitivity.- A lung condition, such as asthma. Moxibustion should only be performed by someone who’s trained and skilled.
